Chennai Express 1st Day Collection
Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express which is most awaited movie of 2013; opened on its 1st Friday spectacularly at the Domestic Box Office. It broke all record in domestic and international box office. The film collected record Rs. 33.10 crores in opening day. The film also collected Rs. 6.75 crores net in paid preview that is again a record. Apart from this, film also collected Rs. 22.90 crores in overseas which means Rs. 60 crores in this very first day. Previously Salmaan Khan starrer “Ek Tha Tiger” had collected Rs. 32.92 crores in opening day.
Film released yesterday in Eid which is no doubt a big festival but I guess its performance is better than Salmaan starrer “Ek Tha Tiger” because “Ek Tha Tiger” was released on 15th August when every office and every organization remain closed resulting in huge footfall as was the case with “Ek tha Tiger” last year. Eid is definitely a big festival but not a national holiday.
Film is doing extremely well in Maharashtra, Tamil Naidu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh and it should easily cross the figure of Rs. 70 Crores in first weekend, 100 crores in first week and 180 crores in next 3- 4 weeks.
